The internet plays The City of Kings

Thank you to everyone who joined me last night on YouTube and guided Vyliria across the Ageless Realms. It was a lot of fun and the video is now online, I'll be streaming again soon.

Quick setup trays

A few people have been asking whether or not they can get extras of the quick setup trays to use for their other games and the answer is yes! They are available as an addon and you are welcome to purchase as many as you wish. They will work great for any game with a lot of different tokens or small pieces.

Sesharra

Perhaps the last of her kind, the fierce desert leader carries both the memories and the scars of Hoodrah’s cruel nets and burning arrows as he wiped out her home and family in the hot southlands. Now one-handed, she has replaced the missing paw with a blade as she strikes, silent and deadly, a creature of the hunt. Sesharra is quick, savage, and smart, but cares little for alliances and politics of the northern realms.

Sesharra is a master of poison and uses it to deal deadly blows while clearing the way for her allies.

Would you like to have an advantage when searching for items or jump in the way of a Hope Breakers club?

Will you dash around the world or transform into a powerful healer?

Which of Sesharra’s skills will you choose?

Vyliria Ellion
almost 7 years ago – Wed, Apr 19, 2017 at 10:28:32 PM

Reddit AMA now live!

Join me on Reddit where I'm answering your questions and talking about the game, designing worlds, Kickstarter, penguins and World of Warcraft (2004 – 2013).

Vyliria Ellion

The last Queen of the Woods may have dying flesh and a visage that inspires terror, but that doesn’t stop her from being a powerful ruler for her people. Older than some cities, the Elvish Grey Queen was once the Green Lady who sang to the trees in the sacred groves until they were all cut to the ground and burned by Vesh. Vyliria of the family of Ellion can feel the doom of her people approaching, but she is resolute, and as terrible as a storm. She will not let the world forget the glory of the elves so quickly.

Tier 1 skills

Distraction (Interact)
You may move a trapped worker in range to an adjacent tile.

Weaken (Special)
Place a -1 shield token on 1 creature in range.

Cure Poison (Heal)
Remove all poison tokens from 1 hero in range (including yourself).

Elfstep (Move)
Anything: Your hero may use 1 move action.

Tier 2 skills

Far-sight (Passive)
You can now explore adjacent tiles without moving on to them.

Bolt (Special)
Deal 2 damage to 1 creature in range. Ignore shields.

Tree Blessing (Passive)
When your hero is on a forest tile your basic heal does +3.

Protect (Passive)
Incoming basic attacks are reduced by 2.

Tier 3 skills

Bless (Passive)
Instantly gain 3 stat points to spend on your hero. You may increase any hero stats in any combination.

Frenzy (Special + Attack)
Perform 2 basic attacks, 1 immediately after the other.

Mothersong (Special + Heal)
Perform 2 basic heals, 1 immediately after the other.

Stone Ward (Special)
Place 1 wardstone token on your current location (tile).

Vyliria's skills provide several passive upgrades that can make her much more powerful without introducing new actions, yet skills such as Tree Blessing require strong positional play.

Would you prefer to free a trapped worker from a creature, or would you like to move during another players turn?

Are you going to take Tree Blessing and try to keep near the forests, or perhaps explore tiles without moving onto them?

Which of Vyliria's skills will you choose?

The City of Kings: A Live Adventure

On Sunday at 18:00 BST (13:00 ET) I will be live streaming here on Kickstarter, I would love for you to join me.

Calamis Earthshaker
almost 7 years ago – Tue, Apr 18, 2017 at 06:46:25 PM

Calamis was brought to life when a drop of blood from the last of the Fallen hit the ground, and it was there to hear the Fallen’s dying words (although it has never told anyone what they were). Calamis Earthshaker cares about one thing only; the sanctity of the City of Kings – but has broken millennia of tradition as it marches out from its home to do battle against Vesh. If anything stirs in its crystalline heart then it might be regret that Calamis’s own essence was stolen by Vesh Darkhand to power the sorcerer’s foul experiments.

Tier 1 skills

Warming (interact)
Remove up to 2 frost tokens from tiles within range.

Last Stand (Special + attack)
A special attack that hits your target and all creatures adjacent to your target.

Cure Poison (Heal)
Remove all poison tokens from 1 hero in range (including yourself).

Instil fear (Special)
Place a -1 attack token on a creature in range.

Tier 2 skills

Haggle (Interact)
Trade 2 resources for any other 1 resource.

Smash (Special)
Perform 1 basic attack.

Restore (Special)
Heal a hero in range (including yourself) for 2.

Earth Prison (Passive)
Creatures on your current location (tile) cannot move. This overrides any movement abilities the creature has.

Tier 3 skills

Panic (Special + Move)
Choose 1 creature in range, draw 1 position card and move the creature.

Hammer Fist (Attack + Attack)
Perform 1 basic attack, the damage is doubled.

Revive (Passive)
At the start of your turn if you are not in range of any creatures you may heal a hero in range (including yourself) for 5.

Stoneskin (Special + Transform)
Transform: You can no longer move. Whilst transformed reduce incoming damage by 5.

Which of Earthshaker’s skills will you choose?

Earthshaker’s skills offer a lot of tough choices, do you want an extra attack or extra heal?

Would you prefer to panic a creature and force it to move to another tile, or would you rather be able to pin it to its current location with Earth Prison?

Are you going to play it safe and have the ability to cure poison? Or do you want to be able to slowly weaken creatures with Instil Fear?

Reddit AMA

For anyone who is a user of Reddit, I will be doing an AMA on /r/boardgames tomorrow at 12:00 ET (17:00 BST) and I hope you will join me. I'd love to answer your questions and also have your support as we try to raise awareness about the game.

Thanks as always,

- Frank

Eagle Eye
almost 7 years ago – Tue, Apr 18, 2017 at 12:28:32 AM

You have unlocked the ability Eagle Eye.

All teams have 6 hours to decide on which card they would like to turn over, each team can only turn over 1 card.

If there is no clear winner after 6 hours then Eagle Eye will have no effect.

Which card would your team like to turn over?

Grimnir

Oh, and by the way! We are now well on our way to unlocking the Grimnir!

I hope you are all having a good Easter weekend!
